Technologists was conceived with two roles: a guide to computing systems resources on the Internet, and access to the people affiliated with Technologists. The other pages of this site are dedicated to the first role; this page tells more about us.

One of the critical executive positions in any technology enterprise is the Chief Technical Officer (CTO). Finding one individual to fill that role can be very challenging. An alternative to a dedicated individual as CTO is a virtual CTO, based on individuals that best fit enterprise needs. By drawing on multiple individuals, a virtual CTO from Technologists can be more effective than a single individual. Consider Technologists as a source for
  • technology research
  • expertise in system design, architecture, and administration
  • software prototyping and demonstrations
  • performance analysis to fix underperforming systems
  • innovative approaches to multimedia communcation and virtual teams

"About" our color scheme. The gray background is a conscious throwback to the Mosaic days of the Web when browser background was gray by default. The burnt orange is the school color of The University of Texas at Austin.

The die photo on all the pages is taken from the orignal Intel "P6", which was first marketed as the Pentium Pro and was the basis for the Pentium II. The P6 was especially important in recent processor history because it was the first Intel architecture processor with leadership performance. This relegated contemporary "RISC" architectures to niche roles, and in several cases, ultimate abandonment by their corporate developers. (The P6 fixed point performance was better than most of the contemporary RISC processors. P6 floating point performance was not as competitive.)
