June 13, 1970 was a notable night in Austin music history. Jimmie Dale Gilmore (pictured) and Hub City Movers were playing the Cactus Club, a C&W bar at 415 Barton Springs Rd. that started booking rock bands on the weekend. Restroom lines were long during the break, so Eddie Wilson, Jimmie and another Mover went out to take a leak, and that's when Eddie first laid eyes on an abandoned Army Reserve Armory next door that was about the same size as the Fillmore. The Armadillo World Headquarters had its grand opening, with Hub City Movers opening for Shiva's Head Band, less than two months later.
